Silva

Natalia Silva guns for gold as she demolishes former champion Alexa Grasso at UFC 315.

Silva stepped into the octagon and delivered an impressive performance with strikes and leg kicks in the opening round. She peppered Grasso with quick shots that left the former champion struggling to keep up. Grasso went in for a takedown, but Silva countered quickly with a nasty side kick that rocked her. As the round continued, Silva followed through with spectacular body shots, savage combinations, and kicks that left Grasso chasing her around the cage.

Grasso managed to corner Silva against the fence and unleashed a deadly flurry of body shots and blows, but Silva gave as good as she got and survived the onslaught. She remained elusive in the following rounds while landing clean shots that Grasso managed to endure, but the constant assault began to frustrate the former champ. Silva’s relentless effort paid off when she landed a sharp kick that opened a cut on Grasso’s face. That moment sealed Silva’s dominance, as Grasso struggled to keep up with blood streaming down her face. The bout ended in a unanimous decision win for Silva.

UFC 315: Silva and Grasso

“We knew there was a path [to victory],” Silva said following her win. “My fighting style is different, and it’s by Natalia Silva. Dana [White], that belt’s going to look beautiful on me!”

Silva took out a former champion and may have just cemented herself as the No. 1 contender in the division. Her latest win could very well earn her a shot at the title. While there’s no official word yet, fans are fully backing a title shot, believing Silva has earned her place.

Grasso has now gone winless in three straight fights since pulling off the upset against Valentina Shevchenko to win the UFC women’s flyweight title. Her previous two bouts were a draw and a loss, the second and third chapters in her rivalry with Shevchenko.
