In a thrilling rematch at UFC 313 on Saturday in Las Vegas, lightweight fan favourites Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev once again earned a Fight of the Night bonus. Their first encounter at UFC 286 in March 2023 also captured the same recognition, with Gaethje emerging victorious by decision in both bouts.
The second showdown was every bit as intense as the first. Fiziev showcased his skills, but Gaethje’s experience ultimately shone through. With his relentless pace, Gaethje turned the heat up to a level Fiziev couldn’t quite keep up with, ultimately winning with a 29-28 score across all three judges. Fiziev, though defeated, could take solace in another $50,000 bonus check—thanks to his gutsy performance on just 10 days’ notice, stepping in for the injured Dan Hooker.
The bonuses didn’t stop there. Gaethje, already known for his bonus-worthy performances, extended his record with 14 bonuses in 14 UFC appearances. Meanwhile, Fiziev added his seventh bonus in just 10 UFC fights, further cementing his place as one of the most exciting fighters on the roster.
It’s not often that the same fighters win Fight of the Night honors multiple times, but it’s a rare feat that’s been achieved before, with notable matchups like Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz, Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo, and Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz also making their mark in UFC history.
The night also saw Performance of the Night bonuses awarded to lightweights Mauricio Ruffy and Ignacio Bahamondes. Ruffy delivered what’s being hailed as the best knockout of 2025 so far, with a stunning spinning wheel kick KO of King Green. Bahamondes didn’t waste any time securing a triangle choke submission of Jalin Turner under a round. Other fights on the card include:
