Makhachev vs Moicano

Renato Moicano may be having some regrets after accepting a 24-hour notice replacement for Arman Tsarukyan to face Islam Makhachev in a main event bout.

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has once again proven why he is considered one of the most fearless fighters in lightweight division. The fighter came in ready for his fourth title defence and delivered a stellar performance as he submitted his opponent in the first round. Makhachev was initially supposed to face Arman Tsarukyan, but his opponent dropped out of the fight due to a back injury.

His new opponent, Moicano came in strong with a stiff punch that rocked the champ a bit but he soon recovered, Moicano did not hold back as he swung punch after punch but he was a little short on defense. Makhachev took this opening and soon had his opponent on the floor, where he stayed on his opponent offering no leeway. Moicano tried his best to get out of this position and soon found an opening, but Makhachev took this opportunity to put his opponent in a D’arce choke that led to a submission. Moicano was pretty disappointed with his first-round loss as his aspirations to become a UFC champion have suffered some setback.

“I’m very sad,” Moicano said. “I spent my whole life for this moment, and I tapped in the first round. I’m not done. I don’t know if I will ever get a chance like that, but I will try my best to do it.”

“That’s sucks!!! For now, I just want to win my next fight! Thank you, ufc for the opportunity! Thank you, God, for my life!”He posted on X

Makhachev on the other hand is quite content with the win and is ready to face any challenger.

“I like this belt,” Makhachev said. “It’s not my job. If somebody wants this belt, come to the cage.”
I’m always looking for the finish,” Makhachev said after another win. “I’m not just talk. All fight week, all my camp, all media, if my opponent gives me a small chance, I will close the night.”
