Former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley makes a return to the cage shortly after losing his title to Merab Dvalishvili.

Although O’Malley sustained some injuries during his fight and took some time to recover, the fighter has announced his return and has his sight set on a new opponent.

O’Malley knows his chances of getting another title shot may not come soon, so he is content with facing a legend instead. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, O’Malley disclosed his interest in facing Jose Aldo as he believes it will be one of the biggest fights.

“100%, that would be f*cking crazy. Jose Aldo is a legend.” Sean O’Malley stated to Ariel Helwani when asked about a fight with the Brazilian. “Yeah, that’s definitely a possibility. I like having options,. Idon’t know if the Merab fight is going to happen. But I’m pushing for it, just putting that out in the universe, hoping that happens. But, you know, I’m here for big fights, and I want people to be entertained.”

He continued, “I want people to have that feeling of a big fight around the corner… That’s the type of fights I want to put on and give to the people. So yeah, that’s a possibility.”

Although O’Malley called for an instant rematch after his loss, his offer was denied. Dvalishvili is set to face Umar Nurmagomedov at in 2025, so a rematch seems unlikely.

Aldo, on the other hand, is fresh off a unanimous decision loss to Mario Bautista and may be available for a matchup. However, he has made no comments on this offer.
