Appearing on the Full Send Podcast, Merab Dvalishvili discussed about several topics ahead of his next big fight. The reigning bantamweight champion is gearing up for an exciting challenge this fall, as he prepares to defend his 135-pound title against Cory Sandhagen. The two will square off in the co-main event of UFC 320 on October 4, a matchup fans have been waiting to see.

“My goal is to fight until I’m 50 years old. I hope I can [still] be champion at that time, but it’s impossible. I’m 34 [years old] now. 16 more years staying champion, it’s impossible.” Merab Dvalishvili is fully locked in on his early October showdown with Cory “The Sandman” Sandhagen, but he’s also thinking ahead about who might be next in line for his title. “If I win, I want to turn around quick and fight in December. I will ask the UFC for a favour to give me another fight in December or even November. Petr Yan is the clear contender right now. He deserves it. I don’t want to make him wait too long.” Merab Dvalishvili has been on an incredible run in the UFC bantamweight division, and his latest victory only cemented his reputation as one of the most relentless fighters in the sport.

Back in June 2025, Dvalishvili successfully defended his bantamweight title in dominant fashion against Sean O’Malley at UFC 316, winning by submission and extending his unbeaten streak which secured him the performance of the night honors. The performance reminded fans why he’s called “The Machine”.
