Brown

Former UFC star Matt Brown shared his piece on the recent incident that happened between Raja Jackson and Syko Stu.

The altercation took place in Los Angeles, where Raja was scheduled to fight wrestler Syko Stu, but things got out of hand when Raja slammed his opponent to the ground, leaving him unconscious. According to reports, the fight was supposed to be staged, but Jackson took things too far. The fighter is still under police investigation as his opponent, Stu, was rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe head injuries.

The incident left many in MMA shocked, including UFC veteran Matt Brown, who said the unprovoked attack was quite jarring to watch.

“If this was anybody other than ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s son, I don’t think there’d be any empathy here at all, but we all love ‘Rampage.’ He’s the man,” Brown said on the latest episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer. “The fact that he’s his son, we’re all sitting here like, ‘what the fck?’ and what do we think about this?

“If it was just anybody else in the world, it would be like, ‘throw that motherfcker in the cage and throw the key away,’ and that’s probably what’s going to happen to him.”

As of Monday, no charges have yet been pressed, but Brown believes the occurrence will not bode well for Jackson, as the fight was clearly not meant to be real and Jackson went against the rules.

“There’s not a lot to investigate,” Brown said on MMA Fighting. “There’s a video that shows it pretty goddmn clear. What do we need to investigate here? What’s he going to get? I don’t know what attempted murder is, but he was fcking knocked out and punching the shit out of him. I don’t know how far they go, or what the details are to get that charge. Aggravated assault for sure, battery, it’s a felony for sure. I don’t think there’s any way out of that. What a shitty move.

“You want to fight the guy, fight the guy. We watched the video right before the podcast, and the dude was preparing for a pro wrestling-style takedown, and motherf*cker slammed him on his head. Dude’s lucky. He’s hospitalized, but he’s lucky that’s all that happened.”

“What a fcked up situation,” Brown said. “If you’re Raja, you know you’re on camera, too. You got to know there’s people videotaping this. I’m in a pro wrestling match. If you’re going to fight the guy, at least fight him off camera and fight him like a fcking man. I don’t respect that.

“We all love ‘Rampage.’ He’s one of the coolest dudes ever. I’ve been on his podcast, I was on the show with him, we hung out a few times. He’s a f*cking great dude. I don’t think that’s something he would ever do. I don’t know what’s going on with his son there.”

Following the assault, it was revealed that Stu is a military veteran who got involved in professional wrestling to help him cope with PTSD. Since the incident, the pro wrestler’s wife has set up a GoFundMe to help support the medical costs needed for his recovery.

“What a mess,” Brown said. “Hopefully the guy’s all right. That’s all you can say at the end of the day. Hopefully the guy heals up, and already with PTSD and being a veteran and everything, just hope the guy turns out OK. Send the guy some positive energy and hope for the best. That’s about the most you can say.

“Other than that, love ‘Rampage,’ but hopefully justice is done and his son gets what he deserves.”
