UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov shocked fans when he stepped out of the cage and never looked back.
The fighter made this grand exit after defeating Justin Gaethje at 54 in 2020. At that time, the fighter had just lost, and fans believed he took a break to mourn his father, but the fighter never returned. The fighter has since become a coach and has trained many dominant fighters on the field.
The undefeated vet has since been seen training hard, and many have speculated about Nurmagomedov’s return, but the fighter has shot down all the rumors. On a recent trip to Indonesia, Nurmagomedov was asked if he would ever consider returning to the octagon.
“There is no chance,” Nurmagomedov told Indonesian outlet iNews. “Not even one percent [chance], minus [percentage].”
Although the fighter has no plans of stepping back into the cage, he promises to produce more fighters to compete. He is currently the trainer and coach for Umar Nurmagomedov and UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.
“If you guys need champions, I’m helping my brothers to become champions,” Nurmagomedov said. “We have Islam, champion. We have Umar, the next contender. We have Usman champion [in Bellator].
“We have a lot of champions. You guys [are] never going to miss me because in our team, in our gym, we create champions. You guys [are] going to [always have] champion [from our team], don’t worry about this.”
