Jared Gordon recently suffered a third-round TKO loss to Rafa Garcia at UFC Noche, but that wasn’t the only hit he took that week.
Gordon, known for his aggressive boxing skills, endured a lopsided defeat to Garcia after taking heavy elbow shots that led to a TKO in the third round. Despite the loss, Gordon isn’t dwelling on it. He revealed that he had already survived worse just hours before the fight. His close friend and former welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, disclosed that Gordon was in a car accident before the bout but chose to go ahead with the fight.
In a recent social media post, Gordon confirmed the incident and detailed the injuries he sustained after being struck by a car.
“This past fight week was weird. Two hours after weigh-ins, I was standing in the street while a car was backing out behind me. I was looking down the street away from the car. The driver was looking the other way as someone was helping him back out, waving him on.

“The front end of the car started turning, and the right wheel ran my right foot over as the bumper turned and buckled my knee inward, spraining my MCL. I thought about pulling out, but decided not to. Was it the wrong decision? Maybe so. After a hard, good camp I didn’t want to pull out. It is what it is. I’ll move forward. Sorry to all my fans for the performance.”
The loss marked a tough setback for Gordon, who was coming off a knockout win over Thiago Moises in May. Now at 9-7, Gordon has faced formidable fighters such as Mark Madsen, Joe Solecki, and Leonardo Santos.
