UFC fighter Jamahal Hill has it in for Alex Pereira after the former middleweight fighter moved to the light heavyweight division and won the championship title. Hill was scheduled to fight Carlos Ulberg at UFC 303, but he snagged a knee injury during his training and had to withdraw from the fight.
Jamahal Hill is, however, not letting that stop him from calling out Alex Pereira for a rematch. The two athletes had a faceoff at UFC 300, but Hill suffered defeat. However, he is not allowing this loss to deter him from seeking a rematch. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has come online to talk about the bout and various insights on the fight. He recently responded to a breakdown of his loss by Demetrious Johnson.
“I’m literally only saying this to say what happened, to point out from my point of view what happened and what it is.” Hill explained on his YouTube channel. “The fact of this, ‘Oh, he can’t accept the loss, he needs to cope’–the hardest thing I ever had to eat in this game was whenever I lost my ‘o’ to Paul Craig. When I was sitting there and I was locked up in the submission and I could not use my arm, I’m like ‘Oh shit, I’m about to lose.’ I literally remember that feeling. I remember it vividly, and that was a very, very hard thing for me. I went out partied with this man that night. I enjoyed life after that with that individual. Me taking a loss is not a problem for me at all. I’m simply saying what happened.”
“I’m not mad at him for being a gritty competitor.” He continued. “Granted, it sucks being on the shitty end of it, but he did what he had to do. He pushed his brand further. He kept the belt where it’s at and all those things. It’s kudos to him.”
Although Hill is currently recovering and healing, he still has his eye on the title ship and his next opponent. Hill doesn’t care about the winner or loser of the bout, but he wants a chance to get back into the cage with Pereira as he believes the two have unfinished business.
“Best of luck to you in your fight, in this rematch with Jiri,” Hill said to Pereira. “Because if you lose, I don’t give a f*ck if they offer me a title shot–it’s me and you. You win. I’m going to go starch the next guy, and I’ll see you soon. You lose? I’ll see you soon.
Pereira had a run-in with Prochazka in 2023, and he knocked him out. Now, the Brazilian is looking to dismantle his opponent for the second time. Although the match is a short-notice fight arranged due to McGregor’s withdrawal from the bout, both fighters are eager to show their mettle.
