As the popularity of MMA continues to grow in Africa, many private promotions have set up a stage for athletes to battle and showcase their skills. One such promotion is Sika Fight Club [SFC]. The organization has set up a national platform for fighters from every part of Africa to battle and earn themselves a prize and a title. Since the establishment of the organization, SFC has grown in size over the years and has produced some of the best fighters Africa has to offer.

One such fighter is renowned athlete Octava Tiphaine Ayinda. The athlete was born and raised in Yaounde, Cameroon, and has a professional record of [5-0-0]. Ayinda is currently the undisputed lightweight champion in SFC and has shown a great passion for MMA. In a recent interview, Afrocombat.com sat down with Octave Tiphaine Ayinda to discuss his life and how his MMA journey has been.




When did you start MMA, and what got you into MMA?


It was in 2018 – 2019 by a friend of mine and teammates in wrestling who introduced me to MMA.


How many amateur fights do you have, and what difference have you noticed since turning pro?


I have seven amateur fights, all wins. The difference after my transition into pro was that I had to spend all my time training. It became my new job.


What was your hardest fight?


It was last year in 2023 when I had to fight above my weight (middleweight class), and I got a short notice two days before the fight . It was hard, but I won by smartness.


What martial arts have you trained in the most?


I am a wrestler. I’ve wrestled since secondary school until university.


Is there any martial art you would like to switch to?


No. I came into this world for this game.


What do you think about your next opponent?


I respect him for his courage to accept this fight, but I don’t think he has any chance to win.


Is there any way you would like to end the fight?


Ground and pound or submission.


What plans do you have after this fight?


Good things are coming after this fight night. I prefer to close my mouth until it becomes official.

Kamaru Usman.
