Former heavyweight fighter Greg Hardy was arrested for allegedly assaulting one of his family members.
The controversial ex-fighter is well known for his antics, as he has been a source of concern since his transition from the NFL to MMA. During his career in the NFL, Hardy was accused of assaulting his former girlfriend, but the charges were dismissed when the victim failed to appear in court. The allegations had been a stain and have followed him throughout his career.
Soon afterward, Hardy caught the attention of Dana White when he competed on the Dana White Contender Series, and he soon signed a deal with the promotion—much to the dismay of many MMA fans. He had a few memorable moments in the Octagon but suffered a couple of KO losses.
After being released from the UFC, Hardy went on to compete in both exhibition and bare-knuckle boxing, and it seemed he was out of the spotlight for a while—until TMZ released a recent report on the fighter’s alleged abuse.
According to an arrest report, Hardy was arrested following an alleged physical confrontation with his girlfriend. Police state that Hardy and his girlfriend “got in a fight and he took her car and left.”
Allegedly, Hardy’s girlfriend accused him of cheating on her after finding messages with another woman on his phone. She confronted him, but he allegedly told her to get out of his face.

Hardy’s girlfriend then claimed that he “pushed her, with both of his hands on her chest, and she fell onto the bed.” She claims Hardy then held her down with one of his hands on her neck, but her “breathing was not restricted nor did she lose consciousness.”
Hardy’s girlfriend also claims she pushed him away by kicking at him, but he allegedly grabbed her feet and spun her away from him before taking the keys to the vehicle and leaving the scene. Police state they observed “scratches and redness” on her arms consistent with a physical altercation. They got in contact with Hardy, who confirmed with authorities that he did get into an argument with his girlfriend over messages found on his phone. He claims she was “poking him in his forehead with her index finger,” but she caused no physical damage to him.
Hardy then told police he “moved her out of the way and placed her on the bed by grabbing her arms,” but he insisted nothing else happened.
Officials have confirmed that Hardy was arrested on Thursday and remains in custody.
