The two lightweight fighters, Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler, are set to fight in a co-main event rematch at UFC 309.
Oliveira appears optimistic about the upcoming fight, making predictions and shouting about destroying his opponent in the cage. At their last outing, the Brazilian defeated Chandler with a second-round TKO. He plans on executing another impressive finish at their rematch.
In a recent episode of UFC 309 Countdown, Oliveira made predictions about the fight and also discussed his opponent’s fighting strategy and his explosive nature in the cage.
“I think I have a lot more weapons than Michael Chandler to get the win,” Oliveira said on UFC Countdown. “I can outclass him just like I did in our first fight. My arm will definitely be raised at UFC 309. My hands can land, connect hard, and I can leave victorious.”
Oliveira is not downplaying his opponent’s strength, as he has faced the fighter before. He understands Chandler’s techniques and is training hard in the fight camp to improve himself and gain an upper hand on whatever Chandler may throw at him.
Michael Chandler is a huge problem,” Oliveira added. “He’s very explosive, he’s always moving forward, he hunts you down. We’ll definitely analyse my fight with Michael Chandler so we don’t make the same mistakes again. I won the first fight, but I want to show it wasn’t luck and that I am better than him, that my game is better. So that’s what I want to do. I’m a lot more dangerous on the feet and on the ground. I’m sure Michael Chandler will come hungrier to show that he can beat me.”
Oliveira is coming off a split-decision loss against Arman Tsarukyan at the historic UFC 300. The 35-year-old will be looking to have another go at UFC gold with a win against Chandler.
