Strikeforce and BKFC veteran Lumumba Sayers was arrested after shooting a man at a child’s party.

The incident took place at Pioneer Park in Commerce City, and it shocked bystanders as the MMA vet walked up to a man and shot him in the head. The fighter is currently in custody in Adams County for first-degree murder and felony menacing charges.

The killing was reportedly to avenge his son, but the connection is still unsure. The victim, Malcolm Watson,28, is rumoured to be friends with the man accused of the murder of Sayers’s son. The original suspect, Tyrell Braxton, was arrested, but the charges were eventually dismissed.

This may be what spurred Sayers to take matters into his own hands. According to witnesses, Watson was at a birthday party when Sayers walked up to him and shot him in the head. The fighter returned to the body to fire a second shoot, but the gun jammed. Sayers ended up taking a key from the victim’s body and planting a gun on his body.

The 46-year-old fighter last competed at the BKFC in March. He spent more time in Strikeforce and fought against big names like Scott Smith and Derek Brunson.
