BKFC star and former UFC fighter Mike Perry was arrested in the early hours of October 12 for driving under the influence.
Perry is quite popular for his violent approach in the cage and is a repeated offender in the eyes of the law. The fighter was arrested and charged in the morning for driving under the influence in Clermont, Florida. The fighter was also handed a secondary charge of refusing to sign a citation requiring a court appearance. He was questioned by an officer and asked to take a sobriety test before his arrest. Perry posted bail for $1,500, but it is unknown how this charge will affect his return to BKFC.
The recent arrest is not Perry’s new run-in with the law, as he has had a long list of altercations with the legal system. In 2016, the fighter was involved in a self-defence situation in Orlando. He was charged with misdemeanour in 2020 after a restaurant brawl in Texas. Finally, he was accused of verbal and physical assault by his ex-wife, Danielle Nickerson, which he publicly denied, and she filed no charges.
Perry’s future at the BKFC is uncertain now. Although part-owner Conor McGregor fired him, the Irishman revealed they are still in negotiations with him.
“Mike is fired but we’re in negotiations,” McGregor told The Schmo. “[David] ‘Redneck’ Mundell called him out. He’s been afraid of Mundell…”
“He can come back, we can talk. We can go back to the table. But I have a great matchup for Perry also.”
“Discussions have to be had and that’s for Riyadh season.”
After an up-and-down UFC stint, Perry has become the face of bare-knuckle fighting since joining BKFC. He remained unbeaten with five wins over the likes of Thiago Alves and former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez. He’s targeting a return to the ring by the end of the year.
The 33-year-old Perry made his professional boxing return against Jake Paul in July. He lost by sixth-round TKO after being named a short-notice replacement for Mike Tyson.
