Boxing star Gervonta Davis arrested on Friday, July 11 over alleged domestic Violence Incident in Florida nearly a month after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend outside her home on Father’s Day.
When the undefeated boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis made headlines on Friday, July 11 it wasn’t for anything he did inside the ring. Instead, the World Boxing Association lightweight champion turned legal headlines after being arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, accused of allegedly assaulting his ex‑girlfriend during a custody exchange on Father’s Day.
According to Local 10, the reigning WBA lightweight champion was arrested Friday morning in relation to an incident that took place at the alleged victim’s house on June 15, Father’s Day, outside of her home in Doral, Florida.
According to authorities, Davis went to his ex‑partner’s home in Doral, Florida on June 15 which was the Father’s Day to pick up their two children. A verbal disagreement apparently turned physical. The police report alleges that Davis struck the woman on the back of her head and slapped her in the face, leaving a cut to her lip, according to the arrest report.

The victim sent a text to her mother during the incident, saying Davis was assaulting her. When the mother came outside, she saw her daughter crying and arguing with Davis. Police say cellphone video taken by the mother shows Davis throwing a small box at the victim. Davis declined to sign a Miranda warning form when questioned by police. He was charged with battery causing bodily harm. His bond is “to be set”, according to jail records.
This arrest adds to Davis’s history of legal trouble, including a 2020 domestic battery charge and jail time related to a 2021 hit-and-run crash in Baltimore. Despite the allegations, Davis remains officially undefeated with a professional record of 30–0–1, last fighting to a controversial draw in March against Lamont Roach Jr. The bout was marred by scoring confusion and unclear blow count. A rematch had been planned for August 16, but those plans now hang in the balance following these latest legal developments.

On one hand, he’s a dominant force inside the ring, powerful, fast, and undefeated. On the other, this arrest brings serious questions about conduct off-camera, responsibility, and accountability. How this situation impacts his promotional opportunities including high-profile matchups with fighters is yet to be seen.
As the legal process unfolds, Davis may have to shift from athletic preparation to legal defense. The outcome could shape the next chapter of his boxing career and public image.
