Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is set to reclaim his title in another main event against Merab Dvalishvili.

Following successful surgery on his torn labrum, O’Malley feels more confident than ever heading into his title rematch with Dvalishvili at UFC 316.

With a win on Saturday, O’Malley looks forward to the future—whether that means a trilogy with Dvalishvili or matchups against top contenders.

He remains confident for his upcoming bout and revealed that while he still has many more opponents to face, he already has a retirement date in mind.

In a recent chat with UFC color commentator Jon Anik, O’Malley hinted at how long fans might see him as an active fighter.

“I train in the morning, recover, take a nap, train again in the afternoon. I don’t really have energy to go do stuff. Right now, I’m so focused—not even just on fighting Merab—but like, I want to fight till I’m 37, 38, as long as my body holds up.

“For that to be the case, I have to take recovery as seriously as I take training, and I have been doing that. I think it’ll pay off.

“I’m 30 now. I think I got some good years in me,” O’Malley said.

He added: “And for that to be the case, I have to take recovery as seriously as I take training.”

“Suga” is now 18-2. Out of O’Malley’s 18 career wins, 12 have come by knockout.
