EARLY LIFE
The fighter started his MMA career when he competed at the first-ever AKO show held in Lagos. Before then, Thompson had been training at kickboxing and wrestling at the champion gym in Port Harcourt under his coach Paul Umeh. All through his training, Thompson aspired to be the king of MMA in Nigeria and has fought hard to achieve the title. He dreams of setting an MMA record that no fighter worldwide will top. The fighter has been in ten fights and has remained on top of his game through all MMA seasons.
MMA CAREER
The skilled fighter has competed in various tournaments like the AKO show, OFU, PFC, Spirit of the Warrior, and FOFN1 & 3. His first battle was against Emmanuel Osuji, and he won via TKO in the first round. Next, he faced off against Jubril Inuwa Baba, and the two rivals fought hard in the tournament. After the match, Thompson emerged victorious via unanimous decision. After this, he went up against Daniel Emeka and suffered a KO in the first round, leaving Emeka the victor. His next opponent was Segun Ogunnoiki. His opponent landed some heavy punches and locked him in a rear naked choke that led to Thompson’s submission in the third round.
Next, he faced Togolese fighter Adams Zikpil and defeated him after landing some heavy strikes. Soon, he faced Victor Dooga and absolutely destroyed his opponent by delivering punches Dooga could not return. The bout ended with Thompson emerging as the winner after knocking out Dooga. Thompson’s next bout was against the fearsome Richard Onem, and both opponents came into the cage with intensity. Thompson delivered some deadly kicks and grappled Onem to the canvas in the first round but his opponent got back up. Shortly after, he had him down again in round two and landed heavy ground and pound before the round was over. The game ended after round three with Thompson winning the bout via unanimous decision.
Next, he faced Kingsley Ajunwa and displayed vicious striking skills. He cornered Ajunwa and grappled him to the ground, but Ajunwa switched positions and delivered strikes to his opponent. After three rounds, Thompson came out victorious via unanimous decision.
He squared off against his next opponent, Ghanian fighter Richard Aseidu. However the match ended after Aseidu was disqualified for biting, and Thompson won the bout. Next, he faced off against Congolese fighter Billy Nyembo and won the bout after the third round via unanimous decision. Succesively, he went up against Ananias Mulumba, but unfortunately lost the bout in round three after receiving a rear naked choke. His last recorded fight was his battle against Ivorian fighter Francois Ahizi. He won the match following a unanimous decision. Thompson soon faced James Opio at AKO 5 and emerged victorious following unanimous decision. The fighter’s next appearance was at AKO 6 where he faced and defeated Aseidu via first-round submission.
