Moreno and Erceg

Brandon Moreno finally delivered in front of his home crowd, showcasing superior striking to earn a unanimous decision win over Steve Erceg in the UFC Mexico main event.

It wasn’t a dominant knockout, but Moreno’s relentless pace and precision striking gave him the edge, frustrating the tough Australian over five competitive rounds. From the opening bell, Moreno was on the attack, mixing sharp jabs, heavy body shots, and crisp right hands. He stunned Erceg early, but the Aussie proved durable, answering back with well-timed counters and slick straight punches. Erceg’s strategy was clear—use his jab, keep Moreno at bay with front kicks, and capitalize on openings. But despite his best efforts, he couldn’t keep Moreno off him. The former champ pressed forward, landing power shots at will, and though his combinations weren’t always fluid, his speed and aggression kept Erceg from mounting sustained offense.

In the later rounds, Moreno ramped up the pressure, connecting with a left hook that cut Erceg and nearly finishing the fight with a late head kick. Even when Erceg found brief success with his jab and counter shots, Moreno’s pace and volume kept him ahead. A takedown in the final minute sealed the deal, ensuring there was no doubt when the final horn sounded.

I’ve gone through so much to be here. I know how hard it is for so many of you to get a ticket to be here. This is all for you,” Moreno shouted to the audience.

“Hunter [Campbell], who really knows what I deserve? I don’t know what I deserve. But I really believe I can move the needle and let’s go for the pay-per-view in Guadalajara. Let’s f*cking go. Let’s f*cking do it!”

His opponent on the otherhand was quite optimistic despite suffering defeat.

“I thought I landed pretty well but obviously it wasn’t enough,” Erceg said. “I went five rounds, I’ll keep getting better. I’ll get back.”

With back-to-back wins since his return, Moreno has his sights set on UFC 320 in September. As a former champion with a huge fan base in Mexico, it’s easy to believe Moreno’s wish is going to be granted and he’ll get a spot at UFC 320 in September. “Let’s f*cking do it,” he declared, eyeing a marquee fight in Guadalajara.
