Johnson

Ex-UFC fighter Demetrious Johnson says Henry Cejudo should hang up his gloves after his loss at the UFC Seattle.

Johnson shared a rivalry with Cejudo and has battled the fighter twice during his time at the UFC. “Micky Mouse” has since retired, but Henry Cejudo stepped back into the octagon to battle Song Yadong. The fight looked like a tie until Cejudo suffered an eye poke in the third round, leaving Yadong victorious due to a technical decision. After the event. Johnson spoke about this loss and advised that his former opponent should call it quits on his career on his YouTube channel.

“I would like to see him retire,” Johnson said. “He’s got a great podcast with him and Kamaru Usman, … he’s got two beautiful children, he’s got a beautiful wife, he’s got businesses. There’s no reason for him to fight and keep risking his health.”

“I mean, he’s beaten me, [was] flyweight champion, defended the flyweight belt, bantamweight champion, defended the bantamweight belt, that’s more than half the motherf*ckers on the roster are ever going to do,” Johnson explained.

“Yes, I know it’s such good money, it’s easy to train eight weeks and have a fight, but the man almost went blind.”

Johnson and Cejudo

Henry Cejudo is a retired American mixed martial artist and former Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. He is widely regarded for his versatility and accomplishments in combat sports.

Cejudo began his MMA career in 2013, made his UFC debut in 2014, and quickly established himself as one of the most skilled fighters in the flyweight division. Cejudo won the UFC Flyweight Championship in 2018 by defeating Demetrious

“Mighty Mouse” Johnson, marking the first loss for Johnson in nearly a decade. After his flyweight success, Cejudo moved up to the bantamweight division and won the UFC Bantamweight Championship in 2019, defeating Marlon Moraes. With this victory, Cejudo became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two championships simultaneously, a feat he referred to as “Triple C,” adding Olympic gold medalist to his MMA titles.

After defeating Dominick Cruz in 2020 to retain his bantamweight title, Cejudo went into retirement, but the former two-division champ ended his retirement and challenged then-champion Aljamain Sterling for the title at UFC 288. Unfortunately, he lost via decision and then lost his next two fights to now-champ Merab Dvalishvili, and then to Song on Saturday.
