EARLY LIFE
Cherif Drame is a Benin MMA fighter who has shown remarkable skills and talent in combat sports. The fighter is affiliated with the HEVIOXO club in Benin. He has been a professional MMA athlete since 2019 and battled in a total of seven fights. The fighter points to Kamaru Usman, Francis Nghannou, and George St Pierre as MMA fighters that have inspired and pushed him to climb to the highest point in his budding career.
MMA CAREER
The athlete has been in a host of tournaments, including Area FC, Benin FC, African MMA Open Championship, Lome Fight Night International, FOFN2, AKO 1 & 2. Fighting in the catchweight division, Drame battled Jimmy Thube and defeated the French fighter in round three. Next, he faced off against David Eleke and won the fight in the opening round via TKO.
Afterward, he squared up against Alexander Oumbyong and wins the fight via TKO in the third round. Soon afterward, he faced defeat at the hands of Wissame Akhmouch and Daniel Emeka in his next two fights but luckily scored a win after battling Ruben Koba, grappling him to the ground and locking him in an arm bar that led to Koba’s submission. Next, he fought Yacouba and defeated him in round three.
After this, he faced off with Ogunnoiki in one of the most anticipated battles of the year. The match started with both opponents squaring each other up before Drame landed the first blow. The fighters danced around each other for minutes before Drame delivered a vicious right jab that knocked Ogunnoiki to the ground, making Drame the winner of this bout. His next bout was against Flex Munwe, who gave him no leeway and tackled him to the ground. Both opponents tried to overpower each other with punches, but Drame lost this round by Unanimous decision.
Next, he battled Emmanuel Christian and the round ended after cornering Christian and delivering heavy body blows. The bout ended with the referee stopping the match due to a corner attack and Drame emerged victorious. His upcoming fight is taking place on the 8th of March 2024, and he will face off against Ale Joseph at the Area FC tournament. The fighter soon faced Chad Hanekom at the AKO 6 but he suffered a first-round defeat.
