EFC 119 held some of the most thrilling fights and exhilarating matchups in the promotion. The tournament premiered the flyweight championship bout between Edson Machavane and Terence Balelo.


Both fighters put on an impressive display of sportsmanship in the five-round match. The two battled it out in the cage, showcasing spectacular striking skills that earned them Fight of the Night. However, Machavane emerged victorious via a split decision win. Following this win, Machavane was crowned EFC flyweight champion, and Balelo was offered a rematch at the post-even conference.

At the co-main event, Juliet Chukwu faced Dayne Van Wyk for the bantamweight championship title. Wyk was consistent in her pursuit and continued to assault Chukwu with blows and punches, but the Nigerian fighter managed to evade them and maintain a healthy distance. Chukwu had her guard up the whole time and countered with well-timed strikes that kept her in the fight. The bout finally ended with a unanimous decision victory for her. The fighter’s latest win cemented her place in the EFC and made her a historical figure as the first Nigerian fighter to win the EFC bantamweight championship.


Another exciting matchup on the EFC 119 main card is a bout between Shadracl Nsua and Siya Nomvemve. “The Chef” was in control for the first two rounds. Still, Nsua soon recovered in the following rounds and used his experiences to outwork the younger athlete and win the fight via unanimous decision. After his win, he challenged Luke Michael to his next fight.

Another show-stopping performance came from Horatious Ndidi Alonu, who faced former champion Ziko “The Gorilla” Makengela. The bout was a tactical battle, with Alonu remaining calm, focused, and patient. But in the final round, Alonu delivered a crushing knockout, effectively ending Makengele’s dreams of another title shot next year. The win solidified Alonu’s place as a force to be reckoned with in the division in a great night for the Nigerian contingent. In one of the night’s most shocking moments, Patrick Ocheme defeated the heavily favoured Kaleka Kabanda with a stunning knockout in the first round. Kabanda considered the favourite by World Sports Betting odds, was left stunned as Ocheme, undefeated in the EFC, made a statement with his lightning-fast hands, finishing the fight with a series of powerful combos. Ocheme’s knockout demonstrated once again that anything can happen in the world of EFC. Kaleka “Block” Kabanda disputed referee Ferdi Basson’s decision to call and stop the bout as he tried to proceed with the fight.

The highlight-reel finish secured Boloyoang’s victory and turned heads as the athlete continued to build his legacy within the promotion.
