The UFC Vegas 95 held at Apex and it had some underwhelming fights in the fight card. The main event fight between heavyweight fighters Serghei Spivac and Marcin Tybura seemed to be the highlight of the night as Spivac took Tybura out in the early round of the bout after locking him in an arm bar that led to a submission.
The fight was a rematch and a chance for Spivac to get his revenge after being defeated by Tybura in 2020. The fighter also earned a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus and has updated his record to [7-2]. The fighter’s continuous ascent in the ranking may give him a shot at the title and a bigger platform to battle some of the greats.
Following the UFC Vegas 95, the fighter was asked who his next likely opponent would be, and he responded, “To be honest, no exact name, but anybody above me in the rankings,100% somebody above me.”
Although the fighter may not have an idea who he wants to face next, opponents are lining up to get a shot at him. A few minutes after his win, Brazilian fighter Jailton Almeida called out Spivac. “Spivac, do you want someone above you in the rankings?” Almeida wrote on social media. “I’m here,#7 vs #8. I want to fight Bro! Happy you get the finish early, so, we can fight soon!”
The Polar Bear took this challenge and advised his opponent to ‘train’ before facing him. Spivac has stated his interest in facing Ciryl Gane of Alexander Volk. Despite his eagerness to get back in the cage, Spivac will have to put a hold on that. He revealed he had an injury before his battle with Tybura that he would have to attend to.
“I did have to take this fight with an injury, there was no going back so I would like to take some time to heal up and make sure that everything is okay. And during that time, I’m assuming that things are going to shift around in the heavyweight division. I would love to fight somebody above me in the rankings but for now, I just want to get better and see what happens.”
Although Spivac and Tybura put on a good performance, other fights on the card were quite lackluster. Including Spivac, two other POTN bonuses were given to Youssef Zlalal and Toshiomi Kazama, but no Fight of the Night was awarded.
