The famous UK fighter Paddy Pimblett has made his intentions of leaving the UFC known to the public. The former two-weight Cage Warrior champion has had an impressive MMA career since joining the UFC in 2021.
Since then, the fighter has had five fights in a row, with a notable defeat against Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 in 2023. The 29-year-old is set to face Bobby Green at UFC 304, which he has said will be his last fight in the cage. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Pimblett spoke about leaving his options open and trying his luck in boxing.
“I wouldn’t want to go to a different organisation. The UFC is the cream of the crop. When you [tell] people that [you] do MMA, they go, ‘What’s that?’ People don’t even know what MMA is, lad. They know what the UFC is. You never know. Some of these stupid YouTubers who are boxing could end up offering me a million to fight one of them. So we’ll see what happens.”
The fight with Green will be his sixth in the octagon and his final fight in the contract, which the fighter is happy about. However, he has his eyes set on other horizons. When asked if he would still face another veteran fighter in the cage, ‘The Baddy’ responded.
“If I fight again this year, I am going to want to fight someone else. I’m going to want to fight someone higher up in the rankings. Me and [Renato] Moicano had a little back and forth. So I’d love to fight Moicano. I think it will be absolutely hilarious. If I can be in a season of The Ultimate Fighter with him, then I think that’d be one of the best seasons they’ve ever done.
“This is the last fight on my contract,” He said to Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie. “We’ll be getting back to the negotiations table after this, so let’s see what happens.”
