UFC veterans Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier have had constant arguments. The exchange began in November 2022, when Chandler faced Poirier at UFC 281.
After a three-round clash between the lightweights, Dustin Poirier emerged victorious. ‘The Diamond’ continued his rivalry with Chandler and even accused him of using illegal movies during their bout. After the cancellation of the Michael Chandler vs. Conor McGregor fight, Poirier came out to attack his former opponent, teasing him to consider retirement.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Poirier spoke about his former opponent and questioned his career choices.
“Dude, he hasn’t fought since I come out here and whippped him. Chandler also thinks he’s a bigger draw than he is I think… Nah [I wouldn’t want to fight chandler again], why? I beat him. He’s beating himself. He’s doing a good job of beating himself. Dude, he’s wasted two years. It’s horrible for him. I think he’s got Dana white privilege too, so he’ll be alright.”
After the interview, Poirier’s comment was re-posted on twitter and Chandler responded by saying “Dues paid but I’m living rent free.”
