Campos initially produced one of the biggest moments of PFL Africa’s first Nigerian event. Fighting Adeshina in front of his home crowd, the Spaniard weathered an early take down attempt before getting back to his feet. Campos then connected with a knee during a clinch exchange before taking the fight back to the ground and securing the rear-naked choke. Adeshina was forced to tap at 1:45 of Round 1, giving Campos the submission victory. The result was initially recorded as an upset win for the Spanish fighter, however, the victory will no longer count as a win.
With the commission’s ruling, Campos no longer receives credit for the submission victory, while Adeshina does not receive a loss. The bout now goes into the records as a no contest, meaning neither fighter’s professional record is credited with a win or a defeat from the matchup.
