Headlines across the MMA world confirmed that the UFC has replaced Yair Rodriguez after he withdrew from his scheduled Noche UFC 4 main event against Jean Silva.

UFC former interim featherweight champion Yair Rodriguez has not competed since his unanimous decision victory over former Bellator champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at UFC 314. The Mexican star has endured a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury setbacks, delaying what many hoped would be a quick return to the Octagon.

Following his win over Pitbull, Rodriguez briefly found himself linked to a potential rematch with reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. However, discussions never materialized into an official booking, leaving Rodriguez on the outside of an increasingly crowded title picture.

Fans were excited when the UFC announced Rodriguez would headline Noche UFC 4 against surging contender Jean Silva. However, those plans have now changed.

According to reports, Rodriguez and his team informed the UFC that he would be unable to compete at the September event for undisclosed reasons. As a result, Yair Rodriguez’s replacement became the latest major shake-up to affect the promotion’s schedule.

With Rodriguez out, fast-rising featherweight contender Jose Delgado has accepted the opportunity to face Silva in the new Noche UFC 4 main event.

The Arizona native enters the biggest fight of his career riding impressive momentum. Delgado has earned notable victories over Austin Bashi, Andre Fili, and Hyder Amil, bouncing back strongly after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Nathaniel Wood.

His recent performances have elevated him into the UFC featherweight rankings, where he currently sits at No. 14.
The matchup also marks Delgado’s first UFC main event appearance, giving him a chance to make a statement in front of a hometown crowd.

While the spotlight has shifted due to the Yair Rodriguez replaced news, Jean Silva remains focused on extending his impressive run.

Silva returns after securing a key victory over Arnold Allen at UFC 324 earlier this year. The Brazilian standout has quickly established himself as one of the division’s most dangerous contenders, compiling an impressive UFC record and earning multiple performance bonuses along the way.

A win over Delgado could move Silva one step closer to a title shot in the stacked featherweight division.

For now, questions remain about when Rodriguez will return to action but the UFC is yet to provide a timetable for his return, leaving fans waiting for updates on when one of Mexico’s biggest MMA stars will step back into the cage.

Noche UFC 4 is scheduled for September 12 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, and will also feature appearances from top Mexican stars including Alexa Grasso and Brandon Moreno.
