Francis Ngannou didn’t hold back after watching Israel Adesanya suffer another setback inside the Octagon. Following Adesanya’s loss to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle, Ngannou shared an emotional reaction that captured just how brutal the sport can be.
Adesanya started strong, showing flashes of the sharp striker fans have come to expect. He landed clean shots early and looked in control, but the fight quickly turned once Pyfer imposed his power and grappling. From there, the momentum shifted completely, leading to another difficult defeat for the former champion.
Ngannou admitted the moment was hard to watch, especially given his close relationship with Adesanya.
“Watching Izzy fight last night, I was heartbroken,” Ngannou said. “It reminds you how ungrateful this sport is. Sometimes it’s good to you. Sometimes, no matter what you do, it lets you down.”
The former UFC heavyweight champion pointed to how promising Adesanya looked early in the fight, making the outcome even tougher to process.

“Izzy looked sharp; he looked very sharp,” Ngannou added. “After the first round, I’m like, ‘Oh we got this. This is good. He’s back.’ But, man, sometimes we plan, but God has other plans, and I can only imagine how tough it is to come back out of it and rebound.”
For Francis Ngannou, the fight served as a reminder of how quickly things can change in MMA. One moment, a fighter looks in complete control. The next, everything flips.
Adesanya, now on a tough run of form, has made it clear he’s not stepping away anytime soon. Despite the losses, he remains committed to continuing his career and finding his way back.
Ngannou’s reaction adds another layer to the story, this isn’t just about wins and losses. It’s about the emotional toll, the unpredictability, and the reality that even the best can fall on hard nights.
