Maycee Barber endured one of the toughest moments of her career at UFC Seattle, but she’s already looking ahead after a frightening knockout loss.

The 27-year-old from Colorado suffered a brutal finish just seconds into the fight against Alexa Grasso. A sharp left hook landed clean and immediately dropped Barber. Grasso followed up with a rear-naked choke, but the fight was already over from the initial impact, forcing the referee to step in quickly.

Barber appeared disoriented as she grabbed onto the referee’s legs before collapsing back onto the canvas. She remained motionless for several minutes while medical staff rushed in to attend to her. Grasso, visibly concerned, dropped to her knees and watched as the situation unfolded.

UFC CEO Dana White later described the finish as “one of the greatest in sports history,” but the focus quickly shifted to Barber’s health.

Thankfully, positive updates soon followed.

“Part of the game,” Barber’s partner Oscar Herrera wrote from the hospital. “Congrats to Alexa. We got caught but are okay. Will be back soon. Thanks for everyone checking in.”

Maycee Barber later addressed the situation herself, reassuring fans while reflecting on the loss.

“Well, this is not the post or video that I wanted to be making today,” Barber said. “But I wanted to come on here and say thank you to the UFC and thank you to Alexa for the opportunity. I got caught and Alexa did an amazing thing. She’s a phenomenal fighter.

“I don’t really remember a whole lot. All I know is every time I go on social media I look like I’m dead and that’s not a very fun thing to see. So I’ve been trying to stay off social media, but I also wanted to tell you guys that I am OK.”

Despite the setback, Maycee Barber remained composed and grateful for the moment, even in defeat.

“I am very blessed to live the life that I do,” she said. “As tough as it is, going out there and being able to do what I did was still one of the greatest nights of my life. I’ve had some pretty tough days, so that was still one of the greatest days of my life.

“I will be back. I’m going to heal up, put in the work, and get back out there. I’m very thankful to everyone who has supported me, through the wins, the losses, everything. Thank you guys for the love and support. I will be back.”

The loss snapped Maycee Barber’s seven-fight win streak just as she was closing in on title contention. However, despite her loss, Maycee Barber isn’t done.
