Max Holloway is not done chasing unfinished business and at the top of that list is a long-awaited rematch with Conor McGregor.
It’s been nearly 13 years since the two first met inside the Octagon. Back then, both fighters were still finding their footing, with Holloway especially early in his career. McGregor won that fight by unanimous decision, but both men walked away with injuries, including a torn ACL for the Irishman.
Fast forward to today, and both fighters have built legendary careers. McGregor became the sport’s biggest star, while Holloway carved out his legacy as one of the most respected and entertaining fighters on the roster.
Now, Holloway wants to run it back.
“Before the fight, I was talking about it,” Holloway said on his YouTube channel. “I mean Conor’s there, Conor got one over me. He’s talking about coming back. I’m coming off a loss. It would look pretty fun to get that one back with him.”

The timing might finally make sense. McGregor has teased a return after years away from competition, while Holloway is looking to bounce back following his unanimous decision loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326.
One of the biggest talking points around a potential rematch is weight—but Holloway isn’t making it an issue.
“I know a lot of people are worried about the weight and this and that,” Holloway said. “If he doesn’t want to cut weight, then I don’t want to cut weight. We can do it at any weight, to be honest. It’s just about getting it back.”
Whether it’s lightweight, welterweight, or somewhere in between, Holloway is willing to meet McGregor wherever it takes to settle the score.
“At the end of the day, that would be a fun fight,” he added. “But we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what way the UFC wants to go and that’s all we can do.”
A rematch between Max Holloway and Conor McGregor would easily rank among the biggest non-title fights the UFC could make. It offers history, star power, and a clear storyline, redemption.
