Jon Jones has publicly called for his release from the UFC after tensions between him and Dana White reached a boiling point.
The former two-division champion took to social media with a lengthy statement responding to White’s recent remarks about his absence from the upcoming White House event. Jones made it clear that he is frustrated with how the situation has been portrayed publicly.
In his statement, Jon Jones pushed back against claims that he was never seriously considered for the historic card, insisting that he and his team were actively negotiating with the promotion.
“Hey everyone, I wanted to address Dana White’s comments from this past weekend, because the truth matters to me and the fans,” Jones wrote.
“Dana, you were heated about why I’m not on the White House card, but let’s clear something up. My team and I were actually negotiating with the UFC for that fight. Real negotiations. I even came down from my original number, and what was I offered in return? I was lowballed.”
Dana White previously suggested that Jon Jones may be finished fighting due to hip issues. The former champion acknowledged the injury but rejected the idea that it prevents him from competing.
“Yes, I have arthritis in my hip and it’s painful, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fight,” Jones said.
“So let me get this straight, if I had accepted the lowball offer, suddenly my hip would be fine and I’d be on the White House card? That doesn’t make sense.”
Jones also revealed that he had already begun preparing for the event and was actively working to get himself ready for a potential fight.
“I even received stem cell treatment last week to get ready for the White House card, and training camp was scheduled to start today,” Jones explained. “I was preparing to be ready.”
The situation appears to have deeply frustrated the longtime champion, who pointed to his history with the promotion as a reason for his disappointment.
“I understand business deals fall through sometimes, but going out publicly and saying things that aren’t true isn’t right,” Jones wrote.
“After everything I’ve given to the UFC — the years, the title defenses, the fights — hearing that I’m ‘done’ is disappointing.”

Jones also claimed that the UFC had recently contacted him about appearing on the card but with a significantly reduced offer.
“Especially when as recently as Friday the UFC was calling me trying to get me on that White House card for a much lower number,” he added.
With tensions escalating between both sides, Jon Jones ended his statement by asking the UFC to release him from his contract if the promotion truly believes his fighting career is over.
“If the UFC truly feels like I’m done, then I respectfully ask to be released from my contract today,” Jones said.
“No more spins, no more games. Thank you to the real fans who know what’s up. Bones out.”
Jon Jones last competed at UFC 309, where he defeated Stipe Miocic. Shortly afterward, Jones announced his retirement following prolonged negotiations with the UFC over a potential heavyweight title unification fight against Tom Aspinall.
Now, after his public dispute with Dana White, the future of Jon Jones in the UFC remains uncertain. Whether the promotion grants his release or attempts to mend the relationship could determine the next chapter in the career of one of the sport’s most decorated fighters.
